Homemade Bread for a Grill Party

Ingredients

650 g plain flour
350 g wholemeal flour
40 g yeast, crumbled
1 tbsp salt
650 ml lukewarm water

Method

Preparation time: ca. 10 min / Cooking / Baking Time: ca. 1 hr Resting time: ca. 1 hr 40 min / Grade of difficulty: easy / Calories per portion: n/a

Sift the flour into a bowl and add the salt. Make a well in the middle and crumble in the yeast. Add 150ml of the water and dust the surface with a little flour. Allow to rest for 10 minutes.

Pour in the remaining water and knead until the dough is smooth and pliable. Allow to rise at a warm place for 1 hour.

Transfer the dough onto a floured working surface and knead again. Form to a loaf and place onto a lined baking tray. Allow to rise for another 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 225°C. With a sharp knife, cut the bread loaf on top crosswise. Bake for 30 minutes. Reduce the heat to 175°C and bake for 30 more minutes.

Hi Cosima !

I was looking for a nice and easy bread recipe today, and I found yours.
It's turned out beautifully. I made half of it according to your recipe, and to the other half I added crispy fried onions.

I made some alioli to go with this delicious breaqd and I'm sure there won't be much of the bread left after dinner tonight !!!

I have uploaded a couple of photos as well, making sure there was NOBODY but me around. I then had the crust of the onion bread all to myself ! :=)
