Steamed Chocolate Pudding with Chocolate Sauce

Ingredients

  For the pudding:
85 g plain chocolate, grated, use best quality possible
85 g self-raising flour
125 g unsalted butter
30 g cocoa powder
125 g caster sugar
2 medium eggs
  milk, to mix
  For the sauce:
175 g dark chocolate, roughly chopped
600 ml milk
3 tbsp double cream
3 tbsp golden syrup
30 g butter
portions

Method

Preparation time: ca. 15 min / Grade of difficulty: easy / Calories per portion: n/a

Serves 4-6.

To make the pudding:
Mix flour, butter, cocoa, sugar and eggs in a bowl. Add sufficient milk to bring to a soft dropping consistency. Stir in the grated chocolate.

Transfer to a microwave-proof bowl and level the top. Cover tightly with cling film and pierce the film. Microwave for about 4-5 minutes depending on power. Test with a skewer if done.

Allow to rest for about 2 minutes before serving.

To make the sauce:
Place all ingredients into a microwave-proof bowl and heat on high power for 2-3 minutes or until the chocolate has just melted. Do not overheat as the sauce may spoil. Remove from microwave and whisk until smooth.

Pour over pudding and serve with cream.
