Ingredients

  pie pastry
300 g prepared mincemeat
2 tsp grated orange zest
50 g sugar
30 g walnuts, chopped
1 1/2 tbsp flour
700 g apples, peeled, cored, sliced
1 tbsp lemon juice

Method

Preparation time: ca. 20 min / Grade of difficulty: easy / Calories per portion: n/a

Preheat oven to 180°C. Line bottom of pie pan with half the pastry.

Combine mincemeat and orange zest and spread in bottom pie pan.

In a large bowl, combine sugar, walnuts and flour. Add the apples and toss well. Spread apple mixture over mincemeat layer and sprinkle with lemon juice.

Cover with remaining pastry and seal edges. Brush top crust lightly with water and sprinkle with sugar. Cut small vents in top crust with a sharp knife.

Bake 45-55 minutes. Cool for about 30 minutes before serving.
