Ingredients

2 kg apples, peeled, cored, quartered
lemon, 4 peel strips and juice
3 stick(s) cinnamon
50 g brown sugar
250 ml water
1 tsp salt
portions

Method

Preparation time: ca. 45 min / Grade of difficulty: medium / Calories per portion: n/a

Put all ingredients into a large pot. Cover and bring to boil over medium heat. When at boiling point, lower the heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes.

Remove from heat. Remove cinnamon sticks and lemon peels and discard. Mash the contents with a potato masher.

Serve either hot or refrigerated.

Delicious with Vanilla Ice Cream or Mincemeat Oatmeal Squares.
