Potato - Meat Fritters

Ingredients

500 g potatoes
500 g lean minced beef
1 small onion, fineley chopped
1 bunch(es) spring onions, the white part chopped
3 clove(s) garlic, finely chopped
1 tsp freshly ground nutmeg
1 tbsp coriander seeds, dry-fried and ground
2 tsp cumin seeds, dry-fried and ground
3 small red chillies, finely chopped
1 1/2 tsp sea salt
1 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
egg(s), lightly beaten
  vegetable oil
  spring onions, the green part for decoration

Method

Preparation time: ca. 20 min / Grade of difficulty: easy / Calories per portion: n/a

Peel the potatoes and cook in salty water until they are tender.

Drain the potatoes, mash them well and mix with the mince.

Add the onion, spring onions (scallions), garlic, nutmeg, coriander, cumin and eggs and mix well together.

Heat the oil in a large frying pan. Form oval-shaved fritters using a spoon and drop them into the hot oil. Do not overload the pan.

Fry them until they are crispy brown and firm on the first side and turn over carefully. Cook on the second side until they are cooked through. They should be crisby brown on both sides with a smooth inside.

Drain well for a short time on kitchen paper before serving.

Serve with a sambal or sauce of your choice.
