Hi,
I'm a student in London and I don't really know how to cook. Currently, for breakfast I drink a cup of tea and eat a bowl of cereal. Sometimes I have milk digestives with my tea. For lunch, I often eat left overs from previous night, buy something, or skip lunch altogether and end up having an early/heavy dinner. Dinner is usually a big meal for me where I eat bread with either chicken, beef, or whatever. Sometimes I can cook pasta or make beef burgers. I am out of ideas. What can I do as a student to EASILY have a nice breakfast, lunch, and dinner? I need ways of preparing food for myself that is cheap, nutritious, healthy, easy, efficient, etc. I need help from what to buy, how to store, and then how to cook. Thanks |

Hi valeous!
First of all: welcome to CU! I remember that I was in the exact same situation when I was a student (it does seem like a long time ago and at the same time it feels like it was only yesterday...) well, I think rather than thinking in breakfast, lunch and dinner categories, it might be easier to think about "what do I like and what don't I like" and what is quick to cook and yet still tasty and nutritious. I guess that's what you meant. I found pasta one of the easiest things to cook as it can be mixed with nearly everything. Olive oil, garlic, onions and speck help to get a bit of extra flavour. Chop some vegetables for example: zucchini or aubergines or tomatoes or bell pepper or broccoli or a combination of two or more types fo vegetables together and cook them until tender. Cook your pasta and voilá ... you have a meal. Add some additional salt or double cream. Here are some easy recipe ideas from our database: Pasta Recipes Sandwich Recipes Snack Recipes Pancake Recipes Fritter Recipes If you are still looking for more inspiration why not check out our Cooksunited Youtube Channel. There are lots of videos that actually show you how to make the dish. Our most recent one - Scotch Eggs - are actually really yummy, easy to make but you may also need a bit of time. But they are worth the effort! Good luck! Alexia |
