Hey there,

is the combination of cherry and banana juice well-known internationally? Over here, you don't even have to mix it yourself, you can buy it pre-mixed. If you've never heard of it, try it, it's yummy!

Kat, I cannot even buy cherry or banana juice. We have the usual like orange, apple, pineapple and blends. And I could not make my own cherry juice because cherries cost about $ 10/kg. I rather drink water laughing

We go to juice bars, they'll mix any fruit or vegetable they can fit in a juicer laughing .
Pure cherry juice isn't very expense here either, about $4 for about 1l.

OZ - when they're out of season, they cost about the same here. surely not

And Petra - $4 for a liter of juice? That does sound expensive to me!

Cherry juice isn't as popular here as in Europe. Here the standards are orange, apple and a lot of blends. Here, where I live, apples, pears and peaches are the norm for a garden. Cherry and plums are very hard to grow since it doesn't really get cold enough. Cherries come from Washington State, mainly, and aren't that cheap either.

Hi

Although I have bananas growing in my garden, I've never seen banana juice in SA. In fact the first time I had it was when we were in Germany in December. The kids really wanted to try it...personally I'd rather make a smoothie with bananas. Cherry juice is available but also expensive. There is s tiny area in South Africa which is cold enough for cherry tree cultivation. Every year in October I close my eyes when I pay a fortune for a little punnet at my green grocer. It's my little indulgence.

Regards

Heike

Kat,

100% cherry juice will be at about € 4 - 5 for 750 ml of juice in a health food shop,
the stuff from supermarkets or discounters at about 1-2 € has a max. content of 30-40%,
the rest is sugar and water.

Cheers April

Thanks for your info. I did write that it is pure cherry juice - nothing added. We also get blueberry, currant, mixed berries, aronia, grape and the regular stuff at Trader Joes. The chain of grocery stores belong to one of the 'Aldi' brothers laughing . I have only seen banana 'juice' at the juice bars here. I don't think it is real juice in the sense like apple or other fruit juices. It will thicken whatever juice you are mixing it with.

Well in Jamaica I think it is used as combo's such as fruit punches or fruit punch smoothies. But otherwise I very much doubt it's sold with just those two cherries and banana's as the main product.

There actually a lot of fruit juices mixed together in different countries globally. There is even more tasteful than mixed Cherry and Banana at all.

DaveVelasco and LeonardVice, your somewhat strange English sounds identical. I can't make much sense of it.

Hi Charl,

it's easy to mix:

Pour 3/4 Banana juice in glas and slowly add 1/4 cherry juice = Kiba (Kirsch/Banane).

Hey Linda,

technically you wont be able to buy banana juice anywhere in the world. You can only buy banana nectar. (fruit mixed with water and sugar)
The problem is that bananas aren´t very juicy fruits. You can only mash them to a somewhat liquid pulp.
By adding some sugar and water it will get more liquid. (try it it´s easy laughing )

Mixing it with cherry juice is great btw!
