I'm a little stuck on decorating my daughters birthday cake, I'm going to use pearl lustre spray over the entire cake which will be iced with sugar paste rolled icing, I also am going to create a stencil to use a rainbow dust edible pink pen to write her name on the cake.
After I have sprayed on the pearl lustre am I going to be able to place my stencil over the cake and draw with the pen without it coming off and making a mess, and will it affect the look of the edible ink? This is the first time I will have used lustre spray, so I'm a little bit in the dark about how it works!! |

Hi Sophie,
Welcome to CU. I am afraid I have never used one of these sprays, but looking on the Internet at what they are made of, they seem to consist of a variety of E numbers plus a carrier to make the spray work. This carrier is alcohol, which is a very good solvent for many things, so my advice would be to make sure that after you have sprayed the lustre, you make sure it is very dry before you try to do anything on top of it to prevent it dissolving the colour you put over the top. Good Luck, A. |
