I am a member of a "Pudding Club", NO - real puddings, not the other sort!. We meet every quarter and we all go along with a pudding of our choice and everybody tastes everybody else's pudding. The organiser asks everybody what they are taking so we don't get 15 Apple pies.
I try and take something that is completely outside our usual UK experience - this week I am taking along a Jamaican Sweet Potato Pone, made of grated sweet potato, baked with raisins, sultanas, Coconut milk, mixed citrus peel, butter, dark brown sugar a little butter and vanilla extract. Previously I have made puddings from Mexico, Russia, Scandinavia, Singapore and other countries and try to find things with ingredients that in the UK you would not expect to find in a pudding, such as beetroot, black sticky rice, couscous, avocados, even Gin and Tonic Jelly or a jelly made without gelatine, but am running out of new ideas. Any suggestions for off the wall puds welcome! Thanks for any help! Regards, A. |

Good morning Androcles,
I could contribute a German pudding, called "Kirschenmichel", that is translated literally "cherry michael" . An economical pudding with leftover bread. I will submit it today, so hopefully you will find it tomorrow under the name "bread pudding with cherries". Kind regards Heidi |
