Good morning to all of you,

today I'm alone for lunch - so it will be a "ploughman's lunch" and the cheese is a delicious old Pecorino. In the evening we will have boiled beef with potatoes, cauliflower and horseradish.

Regards
Heidi

Good Morning Heidi!

What! You come on a UK site to say you are having boiled beef and NO CARROTS! Shame!
sadabout to cryabout to cryabout to cry

( laughing out loudlaughing out loud )

No idea what we are having yet. (Perhaps some of our butcher's excellent home made sausages, although now the Management has got herself the new iPad App on dieting and has started feeding in her daily intake and getting the calorie printout, this idea may be at risk.........)

Best wishes from a slightly Snowy Bucks.

A.

Well, there are some carrots in the broth, but when finally the meat is tender, the carrots are very soft, too soft for my liking. But Lucy loves them laughing out loudlaughing out loudlaughing out loud !

Buenos dias laughing

Unfortunately, I didn't make the Shepherd's Pie for last night, as I didn't have any of the necessary vegetables in the house, i.e. carrots etc. So we had Gammon Steak with pineapple and oven chips which was a quick but tasty solution.

For lunch today I'll be having something really nutritious and satisfying: baked beans on toast where is...

For the evening meal there will be meatballs in tomato sauce with rice or pasta and some fried courgettes.

Frozen greetings from Spain,
Angelika

Good afternoon, Angelika!

I have the classic recipe for Baked Beans on Toast supplied to me by a bachelor English Afficionado:

Ingredients:
1 tin of Heinz beans (must be Heinz, no own-brand rubbish)
Two slices of white sliced bread
Can of beer
HP Sauce

Directions:
Open tin and empty half of the contents into a saucepan. Put the half-full tin the fridge for tomorrow. Place saucepan on a low heat. Stir regularly with a spoon.

Place the bread in the toaster and push the button down. When bread is toasted, spread with high-cholesterol butter.

Empty beans over toast, place splash of HP sauce on plate, open can of beer, switch on the television, retreat to an armchair and eat. Drink beer.

Variations:
Use three slices of bread and the whole tin of beans.
Serves:
1

Enjoy!

A bit late for Monday, but had a bit of a lash-up - a griddled chicken breast with griddled onion, mushrooms and salad in a sandwich!
